Roasted Bone Marrow Recipe
When it comes to roasting bone marrow, you actually don’t need much of a recipe. There’s almost no way you can go wrong with it! Bone marrow is absolutely delicious and very nutrient dense.
Ingredients:
- Marrow bones (beef, lamb, elk, bison, ostrich, etc)
- Redmond salt
- (optional) mined garlic, herbs
Tools:
- Oven or airfryer
Instructions:
- Preheat the oven to 425 degrees Fahrenheit
- Place your marrow bones on a stainless steel baking sheet lined with parchment paper
- Add salt (and herbs if you’d like)
- Roast your marrow bones for 7-12 minutes, until it forms a golden crust on the top. Some people prefer their bone marrow more “rare”, and others more “well done”. Keep in mind the longer you roast it, the more liquified it will become (as it is a fat). You can also roast the marrow bones from frozen, just add on a few minutes to the roasting time.
- Scoop the marrow out of the bones and enjoy with eggs, meat, or bread.
Notes:
- Northstar Bison, White Oak Pastures, and Apsey Farms all have great grass-fed beef and bison bone marrow (use the code “RIBEYERACH” for a discount at any of their farm stores). If you’re looking to try some unique marrow, you can even try ostrich marrow from American Ostrich Farms (code: RACH).
- Marrow bones can be sliced several different ways. There is a “canoe cut”, which will roast faster than the full bone (not sliced in half long ways). Other marrow bones are more round, and you have to dig the marrow out.
- Experiment with it and see how you like your marrow. Personally, I like my marrow to be more “rare” or “medium rare”, where its still mostly solid and has a more “jiggly” texture. Some may prefer it more liquified. Both ways will taste great!
- Bone marrow tastes great with just about everything. I love putting it with eggs, steak, raw honey, or even just eating it on its own.
- Bone marrow is excellent for skin and joint health, and is a very healing food. You are going to love it!
- This recipe can be enjoyed by anyone, and it fits in great with these diets: the carnivore diet, keto diet, lion diet, paleo diet, animal-based diet, low carb diet, Weston A. Price diet, etc.
